Rosa Lugo is left in distress, seeking answers after her 14-year-old son Carlos was discovered dead on the north side of Houston last weekend, as reported by KHOU.
According to Lugo, Carlos had gone missing for around two weeks before he was found. His remains were located on Firnat Street, close to the Hardy Toll Road, just a mile from where he was last seen.
Desperately hoping to find him alive, Lugo’s search came to a devastating end when an autopsy report revealed Carlos had been shot to death. At the spot where his body was found, candles and balloons were placed in his memory.
Lugo said she has no idea who could have hurt her son and is worried the perpetrator may still be out there. She described Carlos to the outlet as a joyful and lively child, and his friends gathered near his school on Monday to pay their respects.
Lugo is grateful for the assistance of Texas EquuSearch and the community’s support, but the void left behind by Carlos’ passing is difficult to fill. He would have turned 15 in March, and his family had started planning his birthday celebration.
Sadly, they are now arranging his funeral instead, which is financially out of reach, and an online GoFundMe campaign has been started to help cover the costs.
Lugo is determined to seek justice for her son and hopes the police can apprehend the person responsible for his death.
If anyone has information related to Carlos’ case, they are encouraged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Furthermore, a vigil will be held this weekend in his memory near the area where his body was discovered.
