Missing Dad Presumed Dead, Teen Son Arrested

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis teenager has been taken into custody and charged with murdering his father, whose body has yet to be found. David Perry, 17, was arrested on Saturday and now faces charges of murder and dangerous possession of a firearm in relation to his alleged slaying of 35-year-old Brandon Perry. The case shifted from a missing persons investigation to a likely murder case, leading to David Perry’s arrest.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department initiated an investigation into Brandon Perry’s disappearance on May 29 after his sister reported him missing. Detectives utilized video surveillance, physical evidence, and interviews to establish David Perry as the prime suspect in his father’s death. Authorities are collaborating with other law enforcement agencies in their search for Brandon Perry’s body.

According to court documents obtained by Indianapolis Fox affiliate WXIN, additional information about the accused murder has emerged. Surveillance footage, witness statements, cellphone records, and DNA evidence were all instrumental in identifying David Perry as the prime suspect. Despite being the last person seen with his father on May 26, David Perry failed to report him missing. Text messages sent by David Perry on that same day indicated his involvement in his father’s alleged killing.

Investigation revealed that David Perry had a struggle with his father, as reported by a witness. The witness also mentioned that David Perry expressed his inability to return to their shared home. Additionally, Brandon Perry’s sister discovered a significant amount of blood on his mattress, prompting her to contact the authorities. She further revealed that David Perry had informed her that their father’s body was disposed of in the White River, concealed in a trash can.

Surveillance footage indicated that David Perry purchased various items, including a dolly and seat covers, on the day after his father’s disappearance. Cellphone location data placed him close to the White River, where his father’s abandoned truck was found. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
