Police said two young children and an adult man were hospitalized after officers responded before dawn to a home in Denton County.
NORTHLAKE, Texas — A 37-year-old Northlake woman was arrested Tuesday after police said her husband and two young children were injured in a stabbing at the family’s home, leaving her facing two counts of attempted capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Northlake police identified the woman as Holly Leeann Flores. According to police, officers were dispatched at about 4:20 a.m. Oct. 6 to a home in the 1200 block of Daylily Drive after a man called 911 and reported that his wife had a knife and had stabbed him. Officers arrived within minutes, detained Flores and began searching the home, authorities said.
During a protective sweep, officers found two injured children inside the residence, police said. Authorities identified them as a 3-year-old girl and a 10-month-old boy. Both children had stab wounds to the chest, according to police. The adult man, who police said is 34, had injuries to his head. Emergency crews took the man and both children to a Fort Worth hospital for treatment.
Police Chief Robert Crawford said during a news conference later Tuesday that the children’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening and that both children were in stable condition. Authorities did not release a detailed update on the adult man’s condition beyond saying he was also hospitalized. Police have not released the names of the children, and their identities are being withheld because they are minors.
Flores was also taken from the home to a hospital in Denton for observation and treatment of possible injuries, according to police. Authorities said she was later released, taken into custody and booked into the Denton County Jail. The charges announced Tuesday are allegations, and no court has determined guilt.
Investigators said Flores faces two counts of attempted capital murder in connection with the children and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the adult man. Police said they believe Flores is the children’s mother. Authorities said Tuesday they had not confirmed whether the injured man is the children’s father, though the man who called 911 identified Flores as his wife.
The case remained under active investigation Tuesday, and police had not announced a suspected motive. Authorities also had not released a fuller account of what they believe happened inside the home before the emergency call. Detectives were continuing to process evidence and work to establish the sequence of events, police said.
Crawford said officers had been called to the Daylily Drive address about five times since March, with most of those calls involving welfare concerns. He did not publicly describe the earlier incidents in detail or say whether they were directly tied to the circumstances of Tuesday’s attack. That history, however, has become part of the broader review surrounding the case.
The incident drew a large emergency response to the residential neighborhood before sunrise. Police said Flores remained in custody Tuesday after her release from the hospital, while the injured man and the two children continued receiving medical care. As of Tuesday, authorities had not announced additional charges or released further information about the victims’ conditions.
