Mom Killed by Driver Going 102 Mph

A Wisconsin woman, aged 32, has been apprehended by law enforcement for her alleged involvement in a fatal car accident that resulted in one death and three injuries. The woman, identified as A’Jena Wynn-Howard, is accused of driving at a speed of 102 mph in a 35 mph zone, leading to a collision with another vehicle. She was arrested on Saturday and is currently facing charges of first-degree reckless homicide and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, according to court documents.

The incident occurred on May 10, 2025, when Milwaukee Police Department officers responded to emergency calls about a multi-vehicle accident on the 4300 block of N 76th Street. Callers reported that one of the vehicles involved in the crash was “split in half,” and there were reports of an individual being “ejected from one of the vehicles.”

Upon arrival, first responders discovered a Chevrolet Traverse and a Jeep Patriot in the northbound lane of N 76th Street. The Traverse had been hit by a speeding 2021 Jeep Wrangler, allegedly driven by Wynn-Howard. The body of an adult female, later identified as Tonya Missouri-Smith, was found deceased inside the Traverse, which had sustained significant damage to the rear and driver’s side. Missouri-Smith’s son, who was also in the vehicle, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Wynn-Howard’s Jeep was found over 400 feet north of the other two vehicles, with severe front-end damage. According to the investigation, Wynn-Howard’s Jeep Wrangler had collided at high speed with the rear of the Chevrolet Traverse, pushing it into the Jeep Patriot.

An autopsy revealed that Missouri-Smith died from multiple blunt force injuries consistent with a vehicular crash. These injuries included facial lacerations, brain bleeding, a severed spinal cord, and fractures to all her ribs, sternum, and pelvis. She also suffered lacerations to her aorta, lungs, liver, spleen, and intestines.

Missouri-Smith’s son informed authorities that they were turning right when they were hit from behind. At the scene, Wynn-Howard voluntarily got into the back of a police car and appeared to be waiting for the police, even seeming to fall asleep while waiting.

When an officer approached the car, Wynn-Howard reportedly confessed to driving the Jeep Wrangler involved in the crash. She allegedly stated, “That’s my car, I crashed,” and asked, “Did I kill anybody?”

Data retrieved from Wynn-Howard’s vehicle indicated that she was driving at 96 mph five seconds before the crash, with her speed increasing to 102 mph just before the collision. The speed limit in the area was 35 mph.

Wynn-Howard is currently detained in the Milwaukee County Jail with a cash-only bond set at $40,000.
