Mother Charged with Murdering Her Two Daughters

Veronica Youngblood, aged 37, from McLean, Virginia, was brought to justice on Thursday – as she was found guilty for the double murder of her daughters, Sharon Castro (15) and Brooklynn Youngblood (5).

The prosecutors, who asked for two life sentences, painted her as a murderer who had no mercy, while the defense argued that she was a victim due to her traumatic history of child abuse.

Youngblood created a scene in the court as she broke free from the guards while wailing, giving a glimpse of her mental state.

Youngblood testified and wept as she recalled her childhood memories; her parents beat her until she could not walk, and her grandfather sexually assaulted her.

On the day of the murder, she gave her daughters sleeping pill gummies and then shot Brooklynn in the head and Sharon in the chest and back with a handgun bought days earlier.

Sharon managed to call 911 but passed away in the hospital. Brooklynn was declared dead at the scene. Youngblood called her ex-husband and told him she had killed their daughters because of her hate for him.

The girls’ father, Ron Youngblood, shared heart-wrenching details of their personalities. Brooklynn was said to be fond of animals, while Sharon was remembered for the Father’s Day collage she made for her dad.
