An Illinois woman, aged 43, has been apprehended and faces charges including two counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of child pornography possession. The charges follow the birth of a child, allegedly fathered by a 14-year-old boy. The boy, who was previously the date of the woman’s daughter at a school dance, is suspected to be the child’s father, as per law enforcement officials.
The woman, Robyn Polston, was taken into custody on a Monday morning. Her arrest was the result of an investigation initiated by the Washington Police Department, following a complaint lodged after Polston gave birth in January 2025.
The investigation led to the unearthing of the baby’s birth certificate, which showed that the child’s name was a combination of the middle and last name of the alleged victim. Polston had earlier informed the police that the newborn’s father was a man named Brian, in his twenties, with whom she had ended all contact post the birth.
Further probing revealed that the alleged victim and Polston’s daughter had attended a school dance together in May 2023, where Polston was a chaperone. The boy had relocated but returned for a visit 40 weeks prior to the child’s birth in April 2024. He then moved back to the area in August 2024 to live with a friend’s family.
Phone records obtained during the investigation allegedly showed a collection of sexually explicit images and videos of Polston and the teenager. It was also found that Polston and the 14-year-old used burner phones under pseudonyms to hide their identities. Polston is also accused of trying to manipulate the boy into participating in a cover-up.
A DNA test confirmed the alleged victim as the baby’s father. Prosecutors argued that Polston could not be trusted to cut contact with the child’s father, alleging that Polston’s mother and sister were complicit in the inappropriate relationship.
Polston has been ordered to be held without bail while her case is pending. Her attorney has not responded to requests for comment. Polston’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 4.
