A Texas resident, Christopher Robertson, 34, has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the murder of his wife, Kristlynne Robertson. The verdict was delivered by a jury in the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, following a trial that revealed the gruesome details of the crime.
The Assistant District Attorney, Riley Reynolds, in his address to the jury, highlighted the impact of the crime on the couple’s five children, who are now left without a mother. The case has drawn significant attention due to the brutal nature of the crime and its impact on the family.
The Fort Worth Police Department was alerted to the crime on April 19, 2024, around 9:40 p.m. The call came from the couple’s residence on Whitman Avenue, where the suspect’s brother, who shared the home with them, had just returned after several days away.
Upon his return, the brother found Christopher Robertson in a highly intoxicated state. A strong foul odor led him to the bedroom where he discovered his sister-in-law’s body wrapped in a tarp. The brother immediately removed Christopher from the house, called the police and medical services, and secured a handgun found in the defendant’s room.
The police arrived to find the victim in a bedroom at the far end of the house. She was wrapped in a tarp, shirtless, and had suffered a gunshot wound to the face. Christopher Robertson was too intoxicated to provide a coherent response to the officers’ questions.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence the following morning. Later that day, at 12:41 p.m., Christopher Robertson made a 911 call in which he confessed to the murder. He told the operator, “My father-in-law is going to kill me. I actually killed his daughter. I killed his daughter.”
When detectives arrived at the scene, Robertson admitted to shooting his wife and expressed a desire to be incarcerated. He also handed over a gun, which he claimed was the weapon used in the crime.
