A Michigan McDonald’s employee, aged 26, has been apprehended following the alleged fatal stabbing of her 39-year-old manager. The incident reportedly occurred after a verbal altercation between the two, which resulted in the manager sending the employee home early.
The Eastpointe Police Department responded to a call at approximately 7:55 a.m. on Thursday, concerning a reported stabbing and gunfire at a McDonald’s on 9 Mile Road. The ensuing investigation revealed that the employee, who had been sent home earlier due to the dispute, returned to the restaurant armed with a knife and allegedly stabbed the manager with whom she had the earlier disagreement.
A customer at the drive-thru window, who was armed, fired a shot into the air in an attempt to halt the attack. The authorities confirmed that the bullet hit no one. The alleged attacker tried to escape the scene, but the armed witness pursued and managed to detain her until the police arrived and took her into custody.
The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention. However, she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The victim’s family identified her as Jennifer “Jamma” Harris, a mother of six who had been employed at the McDonald’s for 15 years.
Antonia Griffin, Harris’s eldest daughter, spoke about her mother’s dedication to her family. She stated that Harris was an exceptional mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her children. The family also revealed that prior to the fatal incident, Harris and the suspect had been friends.
A witness recounted the incident to a local Fox affiliate, describing the relentless attack by the masked employee. The Eastpointe Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
Yusef Alcodray, the local McDonald’s owner, expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic incident and extended his condolences to the victim’s family. He emphasized that violence is not tolerated in his restaurants and assured that the safety and well-being of employees and customers are paramount. The restaurant will remain closed until further notice as the investigation continues.
The police have yet to release the identity of the alleged attacker. Requests for additional information from the department have not yet been responded to.
