A Missouri woman is facing serious charges after allegedly threatening the lives of her two young children during a live broadcast on the social media platform, TikTok. Elena Lujan, 30, is said to have made the threats during the early hours of Saturday, as per the probable cause statement filed in Cole County Circuit Court.
Lujan is reported to have told her children, aged 3 and 7, to go to sleep or face death. She also allegedly blamed one of the children for the potential demise of the other, stating that she would kill one and the other would be the reason for it. The mother is also said to have expressed her frustration with the children, stating that she would kill them if it wouldn’t result in her imprisonment.
The incident came to light when authorities were alerted about the disturbing TikTok livestream. Responding to the call, officers arrived at Lujan’s apartment around 2 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Lujan unconscious in the children’s room, apparently intoxicated. An open bottle of tequila was found in the kitchen, along with broken glass on the floor.
The children were found in separate rooms, with the 3-year-old on the couch in the living room and the 7-year-old asleep in Lujan’s bedroom. It reportedly took several minutes to rouse Lujan due to her level of intoxication.
Lujan was subsequently arrested and placed in a patrol vehicle. She is reported to have spat at an officer through the open window of the vehicle. She declined to provide a breath sample to determine her blood alcohol concentration and was taken to a local police station.
The probable cause statement indicates that Lujan made numerous threats to kill the children during the incident. She is the sole adult resident of the home. During the livestream, Lujan can reportedly be heard instructing one of her children to respond to her with “yes ma’am,” which the child did through tears.
Lujan has been charged with child abuse and is currently being held without bond at the Cole County Jail. Her arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday.
