The attack was initiated by two unidentified persons who began shooting on a crowded street, primarily targeting a group gathered outside a local convenience store. Among those injured were a 40-year-old woman and her 12-year-old daughter, who were tragically caught in the crossfire.
Law enforcement officials have reported that the mother and daughter were used as human shields by the intended targets of the attack. The mother suffered a gunshot wound to her abdomen, while her daughter was struck in the leg. Both were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and are currently reported to be in stable condition.
The incident took place around 5 p.m., leading officers from the 47th Precinct to respond to multiple reports of gunfire on White Plains Road.
