Mother Violently Stabs and Drowns Her Young Children

LAKEWOOD, New Jersey – A mother has been arrested in Ocean County, New Jersey, after allegedly stabbing and drowning her two young children. Naomi Elkins, 27, has been charged with two counts of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when authorities responded to a call about two children in cardiac arrest at a residence on Shenandoah Drive.

Upon arrival, police found paramedics from Hatzolah Medical Services attempting to revive the 1-year-old and 3-year-old. Despite their efforts, the children were pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation revealed that Elkins was the mother of both children. According to law enforcement sources cited by Philadelphia NBC affiliate WCAU, Elkins is believed to have drowned the two girls in the bathtub after stabbing the 1-year-old.

No motive for the heinous act has been suggested by prosecutors at this time. Elkins has been remanded to the Ocean County Jail after a judge denied her bond during the initial court appearance. Her attorney, Mitch Ansell, has not yet responded to requests for comment.

As authorities continue their investigation, the community is grappling with the devastating loss of two young lives. The motive behind the alleged crime remains unknown, and further details have not been released by the officials involved.
