National Championship Quarterback Arrested

Stetson Bennett, the University of Georgia quarterback responsible for their consecutive national championship titles, was charged with public intoxication early Sunday morning in Dallas, Texas, as reported by WFAA.

The arrest was made after the police received a report of a man banging on doors in the Old East Dallas area. On arriving at the scene, they found that Bennett was drunk.

Bennett was taken to a city detention facility after the arrest.

The 25-year-old quarterback, Bennett led Georgia to national championships in 2021 and 2022, defeating TCU 65-7 early last month.

Bennett, aged 25, was a walk-on at Georgia before transferring to a junior college in 2017. He came back to Georgia in 2019 after being offered a scholarship and was given the starting position in 2021.

Since the two championships, Bennett has been in the middle of some media drama. After Georgia’s victory against Alabama in 2022, he was seen on “Good Morning America” looking drowsy, with many people speculating that he was hungover. Just this last season after winning the national championship against TCU, he missed the championship press conference.

In 2023, Bennett is expected to enter the NFL Draft, with Mel Kiper Jr. predicting a third-round selection. Although this arrest may have an effect on his draft stock.
