Athens, Georgia – A suspect has been apprehended in the case of a college student who was found dead after going missing while jogging on the University of Georgia campus. Authorities have identified the suspect as Jose Antonio Ibarra, who is expected to face multiple charges including murder and kidnapping. The victim, Laken Hope Riley, was discovered with visible injuries, and her tragic death has left the campus community in mourning.
Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student at Augusta University, was reported missing by a friend after failing to return home from a morning jog. During a search, police found her unconscious in the woods behind Lake Herrick. Despite medical efforts, Riley was pronounced dead at the scene.
In response to the tragedy, the University of Georgia Police Department extended their condolences and assured the community that there is no ongoing threat to the campus.
