Pelosi Goes Viral Over Her Reaction to State of the Union Speech

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) had a moment during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, and social media’s buzzing. During an especially somber moment, Pelosi began to smile and rise, rubbing her knuckles together gleefully, as Biden discussed burn pits and the physical harm they cause.

Speaker Pelosi’s rise and anticipation of a moment worthy of applause set off her Democrat colleagues on the House floor, who started their own short round of hoots and hollers before the whole scene subsided.

The awkward moment became even more inappropriate when Biden next discussed how those burn pits Pelosi seemed so eager to applaud may have cost his son, Beau Biden, his life. Beau, an Iraq War veteran, died of cancer at 46 years.

As clips of the moment make the rounds on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and more, people from across the political spectrum are simply… confused. What could Pelosi have possibly been thinking? Was she just not paying attention to the president’s speech?

There did appear to be a moment Pelosi realized she was wiggling about for no reason. She returned to her seat, calming her excited knuckles and allowing the smile she almost surely regretted to fade in the background.
