Police Officers Leave Man in Critical Condition Because Their Shift was Almost Over

Two police officers from St. Louis, Missouri, have been implicated in a scandal involving the neglect of their duties. The officers, Ty Warren and Austin Fraser, were recorded on body camera footage appearing to shirk their responsibilities after finding a gunshot victim in a local park. The footage also captured the officers using derogatory language about the victim and expressing annoyance over the extra work.

The incident unfolded when the officers responded to a 911 call from a man named Urayoan Rodriguez-Rivera, who had expressed suicidal intentions. The call was received half an hour before the end of the officers’ shift. The body camera footage shows the officers discovering Rodriguez-Rivera in Forest Park on September 10, 2023. They noted that the victim was severely injured but still alive.

Despite the urgent state of Rodriguez-Rivera, the officers chose to leave the scene and return later. Their conversation, captured on the body camera, revealed their plan to “cruise around and come back.” They did return to the scene when a third officer arrived but left again shortly after, according to official reports.

In a twist to the case, while Rodriguez-Rivera’s death has been officially classified as a suicide, the police were unable to find the firearm. St. Louis police spokesman Mitch McCoy confirmed that the missing gun is being treated as stolen and its disappearance is currently under investigation. The police are also tracking any related activity on the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network.

McCoy also addressed the behavior of the two officers involved in the incident. He confirmed that neither Warren nor Fraser is currently employed by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. While he did not disclose specific details about their dismissal, he stressed that the department maintains high standards for its officers and will enforce disciplinary action if an officer is found to have breached policies.
