British pop sensation Jessie J recently shared with her fans that she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. The singer, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, announced on her Instagram page, stating that she will be taking a break from her career to focus on her health and undergo surgery.
Jessie J, known for hits like “Price Tag” and “Domino,” revealed that she discovered her diagnosis two months ago, around the time her single “No Secrets” was released. She emphasized the word “early” in her diagnosis, expressing gratitude for the early detection while acknowledging the severity of any form of cancer.
The singer candidly shared her feelings about her diagnosis, stating that she wanted to be open about her situation. She expressed that talking about her diagnosis helps her process it and that she has found comfort in the past from the support and shared experiences of others.
The Grammy-nominated artist also noted the irony of her diagnosis, coming at a time when she was releasing a song titled “No Secrets” and preparing to release another called “Living My Best Life.” She plans to take a hiatus after her performance at the Summertime Ball in London on June 15.
Despite the serious nature of her health situation, Jessie J managed to maintain a sense of humor, joking about her upcoming surgery as a “dramatic way to get a boob job.” She also expressed empathy for others dealing with major health issues, stating that it breaks her heart to see others going through similar or worse situations.
The singer also shared her feelings on her Instagram story, stating that she had been holding onto her diagnosis for nine weeks. She expressed gratitude for the support she has received from her fans during both good and challenging times.
According to her website, Jessie J’s European and UK “No Secrets Tour 2025” is still set to kick off in late summer, starting in Amsterdam. Jessie J has previously been open about her health struggles, including contracting COVID-19 and suffering a miscarriage in 2021. She welcomed her first child with her boyfriend, retired Danish-Israeli basketball player Chanan Safir Colman, in May 2023.
