Pregnant Woman Shot and Killed While Attending a Birthday Party at a Local Park

A pregnant woman lost her life over the weekend at Margaret Jenkins Park in Houston, Texas, early on Saturday, July 22. At 1:14 am, it was reported that multiple gunshots went off, wounding four individuals, two of whom were presumably the shooters.

Disturbingly, the victims included pregnant Autumn Vallian, a 21-year-old who had been celebrating her friend’s birthday at the park.

ABC Houston station, KTRK, spoke with the family of Autumn Vallian, who stated that the incident began with an altercation between groups of people in the park.

The individuals responsible pulled out guns and started shooting, leaving three victims with serious injuries and one with a minor injury. Autumn, however, was fatally struck while attempting to vacate the park. Her mother, Ebony Vallian, shared with KTRK with emotion that Autumn was currently in school and trying to better herself.

The two suspects are currently detained at a local hospital while police investigate the incident to determine if additional persons are culpable. This tragic shooting has highlighted the costly devastation of gun violence.
