Kirk Medas, a cherished member of the MTV reality series “Floribama Shore,” has passed away at the young age of 33. His co-star and close friend, Aimee Hall, announced the tragic news on social media on May 2. Hall shared a touching story about a dolphin coming up to her at the beach, which she interpreted as a goodbye message from her departed friend.
Medas was a central figure on “Floribama Shore,” having been a part of the show since its inception in 2017 until 2021. Hall’s heartfelt tribute to Medas underscored their mutual love for dolphins and the sea. She expressed her conviction that Medas was now at peace, free from suffering, and spreading joy in heaven.
Hall painted a picture of Medas as a person with a kind soul, a heart brimming with love, and a spirit that brought people together. She referred to him as the “glue” that kept their group intact. The announcement of Medas’ death came after the disclosure that he had been fighting a severe case of necrotizing pancreatitis and sepsis, which had put him on a ventilator for more than two weeks.
Medas was rushed to the intensive care unit on April 18, as revealed by Hall and another “Floribama Shore” cast member, Nilsa Prowant, on social media. Shortly after his admission, Medas fell into a coma. Hall shared the painful moment when Medas was put on the ventilator, recounting that she told him she loved him and saw tears in his eyes.
In her tribute, Hall expressed how much she missed Medas’ voice, laughter, and presence, and how the world seemed less bright without him. She expressed hope, however, that they would reunite someday. Until then, she pledged to keep him in her heart.
Medas first came into the spotlight in 2017 when he was chosen to join the cast of “Floribama Shore,” a follow-up to the popular “Jersey Shore” series. The show chronicled Medas and his seven co-stars as they spent their summers in the Florida Panhandle. Medas’ path to the show was somewhat unplanned, as he was initially accompanying a friend who was auditioning for the show.
After “Floribama Shore,” Medas made guest appearances on other reality shows such as “Fear Factor” and “Wild ‘n Out.” He also utilized his social media platforms to document his fitness and spiritual journey in his final months.
