Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Defense Lawyer Quits Sex-Trafficking Case

Anthony Ricco, a defense attorney representing music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs in a criminal sex-trafficking case, has filed a motion to withdraw from the case, according to recent court documents. Ricco, one of six lawyers defending Combs, did not provide a reason for his decision to step down. His withdrawal will only be finalized once a judge approves it, which requires a sufficient reason.

In a statement submitted to the Manhattan federal court, Ricco stated, “Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.” He respectfully requested the court to grant his request, but did not provide further details.

Ricco’s decision to step down was made after discussions with Combs’ lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo. He suggested that the lack of detail in his affidavit was due to his desire to maintain attorney-client privilege.

While Ricco did not provide specific reasons for his decision, he assured the judge that there were “sufficient reasons” for his request. He also assured the court that his withdrawal would not delay the trial, scheduled for May 5, as Combs would continue to be represented by the remaining five attorneys.

Combs, 54, has pleaded not guilty to charges of forcing women into drug-fueled sex shows. He has been in custody without bail since his arrest in September. If convicted of the top charge, he faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and could potentially receive a life sentence.

In addition to the criminal charges, Combs is also facing at least 40 lawsuits from individuals alleging that he drugged and sexually assaulted or raped them. Combs has denied these accusations.

Neither Combs’ legal team nor Ricco responded to requests for comment on Friday.
