Shocking Incident at Baby Shower Leaves Woman Dead

Detroit, MI – A baby shower in Detroit took a tragic turn when an argument between two longtime friends ended in gunfire. According to the police, the suspect, who had known the victim for years, pulled out a gun and shot her during the altercation. In a bizarre twist of events, the suspect then drove herself to a police station to turn herself in, only to be struck by a car driven by the victim’s son as she was entering the building.

The incident unfolded on Sunday night on the city’s east side. The victim, identified as 53-year-old Phebe Williams, was allegedly confronted by the suspect, who had shown up uninvited to the baby shower.

The argument reportedly started over one of Williams’ sons, with the suspect accusing him of a crime and claiming to have reported it to the police. The situation escalated, turning physical, and Williams allegedly struck her friend. In response, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot Williams, resulting in her death.

Following the shooting, the suspect made her way to a nearby police station. However, Williams’ son followed her and accidentally hit her with his car as she was entering the building. The suspect was subsequently taken to the hospital, where she remains in serious condition.

While the suspect’s relatives claim she acted in self-defense and was attempting to leave before the shooting occurred, the police are skeptical. Captain Donna McCord of the Detroit Police Department emphasized the need for responsible gun ownership and urged individuals to contact the authorities rather than taking matters into their own hands.

Both the suspect and the victim’s son are currently in police custody. The Detroit Police Department is conducting an ongoing investigation and will present their findings to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine the charges to be filed.
