Social Media Influencer Dead at Age 31 After Botched Surgery

Ana Bárbara Buhr Buldrini, a 31-year-old social media influencer from Mozambique, tragically lost her life due to cardiac arrest after undergoing multiple cosmetic surgeries in Istanbul, Turkey. Buldrini, who had amassed a significant following on Instagram, had traveled to Turkey with her husband, Elgar Miles, to have breast augmentation, liposuction, and rhinoplasty procedures at Tusa Hospital. The surgeries were part of a promotional deal with the hospital, which Buldrini was expected to advertise on her social media channels.

Miles shared that the surgeries were a long-standing aspiration of his wife, aimed at enhancing her physical appearance. The couple, who had recently married, had initially scheduled the surgeries for a Wednesday to allow for an extra day of recovery. However, due to scheduling issues, the procedures were moved to the previous Sunday.

The couple had visited the clinic on Sunday, intending to acquaint themselves with the facility. However, the surgeon suggested proceeding with the surgeries immediately, despite Buldrini not having had sufficient preparation. The couple had socialized with the surgeon the night before, during which Buldrini was persuaded to proceed with the surgeries.

Despite Miles’ reservations, the surgeon assured him that there would be no complications. As a result, Buldrini underwent the procedures the next day, which concluded around 11 p.m. on Sunday. Miles was later shown a photograph of his wife in recovery and was told that she was still under anesthesia.

The situation took a devastating turn when, after waiting for over an hour to see his wife, Miles was informed of her death. He described a chaotic scene, with one doctor telling him that Buldrini’s heart was beating slowly, while another pronounced her dead.

The medical staff involved were initially detained at the hospital but were later released by the police. Tusa Hospital has refuted any claims of malpractice, stating that their team attempted to resuscitate Buldrini following her surgery. The hospital has also stated that it is fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigation.
