Son Nearly Decapitates Mother, Stabs Friend

A 20-year-old Nevada resident, Carson Gonzales, is currently in custody for allegedly attacking his mother and one of her friends, leaving his mother dead and her friend critically injured. According to court documents, Gonzales was arrested after his mother was found deceased and her friend was discovered in a driveway, barely alive with knife wounds to her neck and cheek.

Gonzales is accused of assaulting his mother, 52-year-old Carla Gonzales, and her friend, Angela Clay, 46, at a two-story residence in northwest Reno on Saturday. The court documents, obtained by local NBC and Fox affiliates KRNV and KRXI, indicate that Gonzales was charged with open murder with a deadly weapon and battery with the use of a deadly weapon.

The police report suggests that Gonzales attacked his mother first, then turned on Clay when she tried to intervene in their argument. The police were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls about a family dispute at the residence. Carla Gonzales, an art and photography teacher at a local high school, lived in the house with a roommate.

Upon arrival, police were reportedly met by Carson Gonzales, who was allegedly covered in blood and wearing only a tank top and socks. His mother was found dead inside the house, with severe injuries to her neck. Gonzales was taken to a local police station for questioning.

During his time at the station, Gonzales was allowed to speak with his half-brother over the phone. The conversation was overheard by police as Gonzales had his phone on speaker. His brother attempted to make him understand the gravity of his actions, to which Gonzales allegedly responded, “No I do understand. It’s f—ing horrible.”

Throughout his interview, Gonzales reportedly made various comments, some of which were unintelligible, including remarks about the president of the United States. He also claimed that he was defending himself during the incident, stating, “They were attacking me.”

At one point, Gonzales suggested that he could “bring her back,” referring to his mother. When detectives tried to get more details about the incident, he allegedly refused to discuss it further, insisting that he was defending himself.

While speaking to his half-brother at the police station, Gonzales reportedly admitted that he should have deescalated the situation and walked away, expressing disbelief at his actions.
