A middle school teacher from the Bronx is facing grave accusations after allegedly sexually abusing a 13-year-old student multiple times in her home. The accused, 32-year-old William Jones, was a seventh-grade math teacher at American Dream Charter School. He was indicted in Bronx criminal court following the allegations. The reported incidents took place between April 28 and June 2, as per the Bronx District Attorney’s office.
The alleged sexual abuse reportedly occurred in the student’s home while her family was not present. The situation was brought to light when the victim’s older sister allegedly found them in a compromising situation after the last reported incident.
The victim’s mother found explicit text messages, including photos and videos of male genitals, on her daughter’s phone. The phone number was linked back to Jones through the school, prompting the mother to report the teacher to the New York Police Department (NYPD).
Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark expressed her revulsion at the allegations, underscoring the disturbing nature of the accused’s actions, particularly given his role as an educator. Clark stressed that the exploitation of young and vulnerable individuals would not be tolerated.
Jones, who has since resigned from his teaching position, is facing a slew of charges. These include eight counts of rape, four counts of sexual misconduct, and five counts of disseminating indecent material to minors. He has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on October 14, according to the district attorney’s office.
Attempts to contact the charter school and Jones’ legal representative for comments were not successful.
