Teen Fatally Shot While Waiting for Uber

A tragic incident unfolded in Clayton County, Georgia, on November 27, when a 16-year-old girl was fatally shot while waiting for an Uber. The alleged shooter, a 15-year-old boy, was reportedly angered by the girl’s public mourning of her deceased boyfriend. The victim, Taylor Hamilton, was taunted by the boy and other teenagers prior to the shooting, according to her mother, Nandi Hamilton.

Nandi Hamilton shared with local news outlet WSB that the group of teenagers was upset with Taylor for keeping her boyfriend’s memory alive. She provided WSB with footage from a doorbell camera that showed Taylor, earphones in, waiting for her Uber, which was due to arrive in five minutes.

The mother described the alleged shooter as a “monster” who killed her daughter in cold blood. The doorbell camera footage reportedly shows the 15-year-old boy taunting Taylor and becoming increasingly agitated after a Thanksgiving gathering.

Taylor, seemingly unfazed by the boy’s display of a weapon, reportedly told him, “I don’t care about no gun,” before turning her attention away. The taunting continued until Taylor confronted the boy, which led to him opening fire.

Nandi Hamilton expressed her sorrow for the boy, stating that she felt sorry for him for being so cold-hearted. She told WSB that she believed her daughter was intentionally lured to the Thanksgiving gathering to be targeted. She expressed disbelief at the level of anger the boy must have felt to pull out a gun and shoot her daughter.

The 15-year-old boy was subsequently arrested and charged with malice murder, first-degree child cruelty, possession of a firearm by someone under 16, and possession of a firearm during a felony. The police are currently withholding his identity.
