ANDERSON, Indiana – A young woman was discovered dead in her jail cell in Madison County, Indiana, just days after being taken into custody for drug possession. Shellby L. Hall, an 18-year-old, was arrested for possession of methamphetamines and driving under the influence and was being held in the Madison County Jail at the time of her death. The investigation into her death began on Saturday, November 11, when her body was found.
According to a press release from the Indiana State Police, correctional staff found Hall unresponsive and immediately provided medical care. Unfortunately, their efforts were in vain as she was pronounced dead shortly after. Police have stated that no foul play is suspected, pending toxicology results and an autopsy.
Family members reported that Hall was captured on surveillance footage eating breakfast inside the jail just two hours before her untimely death. Outraged and seeking answers, her loved ones have organized a protest and candlelight vigil scheduled for Wednesday.
The investigation is ongoing, and the circumstances surrounding Hall’s death remain a mystery. Hopefully, the toxicology results and autopsy will shed light on the cause of her passing. Until then, the family continues to demand answers from the authorities.
