Teen Influencer Fatally Shot During Video Call

In a horrifying incident last week, an 18-year-old woman was tragically shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend while she was on a video call with her friends in West Palm Beach, Florida. The victim, Kelvi McCray, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her head, neck, and back. The alleged shooter, 19-year-old Keisean Shaw, is believed to have taken his own life.

The disturbing event came to light when McCray’s mother made a frantic 911 call. A neighbor also called 911 after hearing gunshots coming from the house. The neighbor rushed to the scene but was unable to enter until McCray’s mother let them in. That’s when they discovered McCray’s lifeless body on the floor.

The murder-suicide occurred around 9:45 p.m. on March 6 in a residence located in the Lake Mangonia neighborhood near Gaines Park. According to the police report, McCray was having dinner and engaging in a video chat with three friends when Shaw entered the room and opened fire. Fortunately, one of the friends on the call was able to quickly identify the shooter, providing crucial information to the authorities.

When the police arrived at the scene, both McCray and Shaw were still alive. They were immediately rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where McCray tragically succumbed to her injuries later that night. Shaw, on the other hand, passed away the following day. Prior to his death, Shaw had been charged with first-degree murder.

Shaw was already known to the police and had outstanding warrants for aggravated assault with a firearm and domestic battery by strangulation. Just one night before the fatal incident, Shaw had reportedly brandished his gun at McCray. Despite efforts to apprehend him, Shaw had managed to evade the police.

Authorities revealed that McCray and Shaw had recently ended their relationship. Despite the breakup, Shaw continued to live in the same house as McCray due to a lack of alternative housing. The couple had known each other for five years and had been in a romantic relationship for over a year.

McCray, known for her modeling, stylist work, and influence, was particularly interested in event videography and food vlogging. Following her untimely death, her Instagram account gained thousands of new followers. Her uncle, Ricky Aiken, described her as a vibrant and beautiful individual, whose zest for life continues to inspire.

In a statement to the media, Aiken emphasized that the family would not allow Shaw’s actions to devastate them, as doing so would be conceding him a victory. He stressed the importance of remembering McCray for the remarkable person she was, rather than focusing solely on the tragedy that befell her.
