A 17-year-old Georgia girl, Sarah Patrick, is facing adult charges for the alleged murder of her mother and stepfather. The victims were found dead in their home, with their 6-year-old daughter being the one to discover the bodies. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Ashley Hulsey, announced the charges during a Tuesday press conference.
The tragic incident occurred in February at the Brock family residence in Tyus. The victims, James Brock, 45, and Kristin Brock, 41, were found with multiple gunshot wounds. The couple lived with Patrick and their younger daughter at the time of their deaths.
Hulsey revealed that the youngest child found her parents and informed Patrick, who subsequently made the 911 call. The spokesperson emphasized the traumatic experience for the young child, stating, “To me, she is probably the saddest victim in all this.”
The investigation led to the arrest of Patrick, with Hulsey noting that “mountains of evidence” pointed to her involvement. The spokesperson also highlighted the tragic circumstances surrounding James Brock’s death, who had previously survived numerous health challenges, including heart surgeries. He was reportedly awaiting a heart transplant at the time of his death.
Hulsey expressed the profound loss for the family, stating, “To have his life cut short, when he was given so many opportunities to live, to me that’s a big takeaway from this story. And that a mother and stepfather will never be able to raise their children and the little girl that was in the home.”
Patrick has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities probing whether other family members may have assisted Patrick in concealing her alleged crimes.
When asked about Patrick’s attempts to hide the incident, Hulsey said, “Considering that she didn’t just immediately tell us what happened, yes. But who knows what’s going on in a young person’s mind like that.”
Patrick was turned over to the police by her biological father after authorities informed her of the arrest warrants for the Brock killings. Hulsey hinted at the possibility of others being involved, stating, “It’s very possible others are involved as well. We are still working with her diligently, our investigators have been speaking with her.”
