Teens Stomp 66-Year-Old to Death Outside Church

Two California teenagers, aged 14 and 15, are accused of a brutal attack on a 66-year-old man, which resulted in his death. The incident occurred outside St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Oxnard, California, where the victim, Davy Glen Pichel, was found severely beaten and partially undressed on the morning of June 5. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office alleges that the teenagers returned multiple times to continue their assault on Pichel before stealing his clothes and fleeing the scene.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, the teenagers targeted Pichel while he was asleep near the church’s side door, next to his wheelchair. The entire incident was captured on the church’s surveillance cameras, providing crucial evidence for the case. The footage reportedly shows the teenagers approaching Pichel, initiating the attack, and then leaving and returning to continue their assault.

The District Attorney’s Office stated that the teenagers returned to the scene repeatedly to continue their assault on Pichel. During their third return, they allegedly launched a final wave of violence before stripping Pichel of his clothes and fleeing the scene. A church volunteer discovered Pichel near the side entrance of the church, with severe injuries to his head and face. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teenagers were scheduled for arraignment this week, but their hearings have been postponed to June 24. The District Attorney’s Office confirmed that the teenagers are currently being held at a local juvenile facility and are facing charges in juvenile court.

This tragic incident has shocked the local community and raised questions about youth violence and the safety of vulnerable individuals. As the case unfolds, it will be crucial to understand the motivations behind this brutal attack and to ensure justice is served for Pichel.
