Nahsiyah Turner, a 17-year-old social media influencer known as Siyah, tragically lost her life in a shooting incident outside a Southern California mall. Turner had gained a significant following on TikTok, with over 310,000 followers at the time of her death. The incident took place on January 18 at the Los Cerritos Center shopping center.
Police arrived at the scene around 7:30 p.m. and found an unconscious woman inside a vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Turner was unresponsive and not breathing. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing. Lieutenant Steve DeJong of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau confirmed that deputies responded to a gunshot victim call at the Cerritos mall parking lot. They discovered a 17-year-old female juvenile with a gunshot wound. DeJong did not provide further details, stating that the investigation would continue for some time.
Following the news of Turner’s death, her social media followers flooded the comments section of her final post with tributes. Her last video, a 15-second clip of her dancing, was posted just days before the tragic incident. Many expressed their disbelief and sorrow, with comments such as “Rest in peace, Siyah. We will miss your videos,” and “Rest in peace my heart, sending all my love and prayers to her family.”
In the week following her death, several of Siyah’s followers gathered to pay their respects to the late teen. They brought candles, flowers, and signed notes, displaying photos of the beloved content creator. A video shared on the platform showed many signing their names on a tribute poster and releasing purple, white, and silver balloons into the air.
Turner’s cheerful videos had earned her a significant following on social media, with more than 300,000 followers on TikTok and over 36,000 followers on Instagram. Her untimely death has left a void in the hearts of her fans and followers, who continue to mourn her loss.
