Tragic Fall: 12-Year-Old Boy Dies on Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship

A tragic incident occurred on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship when a 12-year-old boy fell from an upper deck balcony and died just before the ship docked in Texas. The boy, whose identity has not been disclosed, was on the last day of a weeklong cruise when he fell into the ship’s “Central Park” area, a popular spot filled with bars, restaurants, and shops.

Efforts were made by the ship’s crew to resuscitate the boy, but unfortunately, he passed away before the ship could reach its docking point in Galveston on September 8. The incident was reported by the Royal Caribbean Blog.

A representative from Royal Caribbean expressed their condolences in an email statement, confirming the death of one of their guests. The representative also mentioned that their Care Team is providing support and assistance to the grieving family during this difficult time. In respect of the family’s privacy, no further details were shared.

The Harmony of the Seas had just completed a seven-night cruise through the western Caribbean when the unfortunate incident occurred. Witnesses reported that the boy had been playing with friends he had met on board just before he fell over the balcony railing of the stateroom.

A passenger on the ship, Sara Tullas, shared in a Harmony of the Seas Facebook group that her daughter was friends with the boy and mentioned that he seemed upset on the day of the incident. Tullas urged anyone who knew the family to send them thoughts and prayers, expressing regret that she was unaware of the boy’s emotional state that day.

The incident also resulted in a delay in the ship’s schedule to board passengers for the next voyage.
