A small aircraft crashed in a busy Florida street on Friday morning, resulting in the death of three individuals and injuring another. The incident occurred on North Military Trail near Butts Road in Boca Raton at approximately 10:20 a.m., as reported by local law enforcement. The aircraft, a six-seater Cessna 310R, had just taken off from the nearby Boca Raton airport.
The crash took place in the 1900 block of Military Trail. Eyewitnesses captured video footage of the aftermath, showing flaming wreckage strewn across the road. Emergency personnel were quickly on the scene, responding to the crash site which was located on the railroad tracks.
According to sources, the pilot had reported issues with the plane’s rudder shortly before the crash. Eyewitnesses also reported that the plane was flying unusually low before it crashed and burst into flames. “Three individuals were on board, and unfortunately, all three have been confirmed dead,” said Michael LaSalle, the assistant chief of Boca Raton Fire Rescue, in a statement to the press shortly after the incident.
Investigators have not disclosed the identities of the victims. A fourth individual, who was driving on North Military Trail at the time of the crash, sustained non-life-threatening injuries after driving through the resulting fireball.
FlightAware data reveals that the small plane had been circling the area for about 20 minutes before it crashed, scattering debris along the road and train tracks. The aircraft was on a 430-mile journey to Tallahassee.
Witnesses also captured video footage of a car that had collided with a tree, its exterior scorched and damaged. The cause of the crash has not been confirmed by officials.
