Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, a teenager who has been battling brain and spine cancer since 2018, has been diagnosed with three new tumors, according to his father, Theodis Daniel. DJ, who was given a five-month prognosis after his initial diagnosis, has been an inspiration to many, having been sworn in as an honorary member of the Secret Service by President Trump earlier this year.
DJ’s story has touched the hearts of many across the nation. Despite his health challenges, DJ has been pursuing his dream of becoming a police officer. His determination and resilience were recognized when he was sworn in as an honorary protector of President Trump during a joint session of Congress on March 4.
DJ’s journey has not been limited to the Secret Service. He has been on a mission to be sworn in by 1,000 law enforcement agencies across the country, a feat that would earn him a place in the Guinness World Records. He already holds multiple records, including “the most keys to the city” and “most proclamation days.”
Following his honorary induction into the Secret Service, DJ received calls from law enforcement agencies throughout the country. Among them was Deputy Jeffrey Combs of the Williams County Sheriff’s Office in Texas, who was moved by the unconditional love Theodis showed for his son.
Despite the recent diagnosis, DJ continues to maintain a positive attitude. During a ceremony in Williams County, he lightened the mood by rubbing deputies’ bald heads for luck. He displayed the same upbeat spirit at another swearing-in ceremony in Polk County, Florida.
DJ’s resilience and faith have been a source of inspiration for many. He has been quoted saying, “I’ll keep going until my gas tank runs out, and that’s when God calls you home,” and believes that he is doing God’s work. His journey continues to inspire and remind us of the power of hope and determination.
