University Campus Shooting Leaves Several Injured

A shooting incident occurred near a residential hall on the Oklahoma State University (OSU) campus early Sunday morning, leaving multiple people injured, according to the university’s police department. The incident was reported around 3:40 a.m. near a McDonald’s close to McElroy Road and North Perkins Road, where officers discovered a shooting victim.

Upon arrival, the police officers performed life-saving measures and determined that the shooting had taken place outside of Carreker East, a residential hall on the OSU campus. The police department stated that the incident was sparked by a disagreement, but no shots were fired inside the residential hall. Three people were injured in the incident.

One of the victims, an OSU student, is currently receiving treatment for a gunshot wound to the abdomen in a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. The second victim is also hospitalized and in stable condition, while the third victim has been treated and discharged from the hospital.

OSU President Jim Hess expressed his gratitude to the OSU Police Department for their prompt and professional response, ensuring the safety of the campus. He also thanked the Stillwater Police Department and all first responders and partner agencies involved in the investigation. He assured that the university is committed to providing the necessary resources and support to ensure the ongoing health and safety of the campus community.

The police have confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the campus, describing the shooting as an isolated incident. Reports indicate that a party was held at an off-campus location, and the shooting occurred after some attendees returned to the residential hall.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the OSU Police Department actively reviewing evidence and working towards a swift conclusion. The suspect is no longer on campus. The Stillwater Police Department, the Payne County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are assisting in the investigation.
