Woman Attempts to Murder Her Boyfriend’s Kids

On January 17, a 38-year-old woman from Florida was arrested after attempting to take the life of her boyfriend’s two children.

Doris Espinoza-Rodriguez was apprehended on Tuesday and is facing multiple charges, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder with a weapon, attempted felony murder with a weapon, and aggravated child abuse, as reported by Law and Crime.

Espinoza-Rodriquez stabbed both of the children multiple times.
Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reported that Doris Espinoza-Rodriguez had gotten into a dispute while she was out to dinner with Alleton Ricks, her boyfriend.

After the dispute, Espinoza-Rodriguez returned to the home they shared with his 14-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter.

Upon arriving back at the residence, Espinoza-Rodriguez expressed her desire to hurt herself. When Ricks and the two children tried to calm her down, Espinoza-Rodriguez grabbed a knife and said she was “going out in a bang” before attacking the trio.

Both the 14-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl were stabbed in their left shoulder. The boy was also stabbed in his chest. The 14-year-old managed to call for help. Police found the 10-year-old girl lying in a pool of her blood. Both sustained life-threatening injuries.

The two children had to be taken to a hospital in Orlando. The deputies immediately arrested Espinoza-Rodriguez and quickly found the paring knife she used with a black handle and blood on the blade.

Sheriff Marcos Lopez commented that the 14-year-old boy had selflessly put himself in harm’s way to save his sister’s life.

Lopez stated, “Even though he was 14-years-old, it’s his sister. He knew her life was in danger, and she could actually die. He immediately ran in there, trying to save the life of his little sister, which he probably did, and received stab wounds in the process. He is truly a hero.”

Espinoza-Rodriguez is currently being held without bond.
