A woman from Florida is facing serious charges of armed robbery after allegedly robbing a Dairy Queen outlet with a firearm, making away with a mere $1.50. Allison Fetting, 44, was already serving time in jail when she was charged on Friday for the alleged theft of a tip jar last year, which contained less than half the price of one of the chain’s popular Blizzard desserts.
The incident took place at a Dairy Queen in Coconut Creek, approximately 37 miles north of Miami, in February of the previous year. Fetting is accused of wielding a black handgun during the robbery. When she was unable to persuade the cashier to empty the cash register, she reportedly fled with the tip jar, which contained a meager $1.50, according to law enforcement.
Thankfully, no one was injured during the robbery. Fetting was initially arrested on charges of armed robbery the day following the incident by deputies from the Palm Beach sheriff’s office. She was formally charged for the Dairy Queen robbery on Friday while already serving a state prison sentence for multiple convictions of robbery and drug-related offenses.
Fetting is now being transferred to Broward County Jail. She has a history of similar offenses in Palm Beach County, and state records reveal that she has already served nearly three years of a four-year sentence for a conviction of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery on a law enforcement officer, and grand theft, all stemming from an arrest in 2003.
Fetting was arrested the day after the Dairy Queen incident, but it was only on Friday that she was formally charged with robbery at the Broward County Jail. Her arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday.
