A Louisiana woman is facing charges after allegedly shooting her boyfriend during a dispute over breakfast. The incident occurred when the woman reportedly consumed a large portion of the meal, leaving little for her partner. The argument escalated, leading to the fatal shooting.
The accused, 24-year-old Tamyrihu Hubbard of Marrero, is alleged to have used one of her boyfriend’s own firearms to shoot him. The victim, 23-year-old Joshua Jones, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound when authorities arrived at the scene on Sunday morning.
According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, Hubbard herself reported the incident. She claimed that the shooting was accidental and occurred during their heated argument over the breakfast meal.
The police press release issued on Monday stated that Hubbard informed deputies about the disagreement over the food prepared for breakfast. The couple was reportedly on a tight budget, which might have contributed to the intensity of the dispute.
The incident took place at a residence on E. Lakeview Drive in LaPlace. Upon arrival, deputies found Jones suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre, in a conversation with The Times-Picayune, confirmed that the argument began after Hubbard ate a significant portion of the food, leaving little for Jones. Despite Hubbard’s claims of the shooting being accidental, Tregre indicated that physical evidence suggested otherwise.
Hubbard is currently facing charges of second-degree murder. She was arrested without incident and is being held at the local parish jail on a $1 million bond. As of Tuesday, online records indicated that she remained in custody.
