Woman Fatally Shot Interrupting Home Burglary

A Georgia woman was tragically killed after interrupting a burglary at her residence. Anna Scott, 36, arrived at her Decatur home late Saturday evening to find at least three individuals attempting to break into her house, according to local law enforcement. Authorities speculate that Scott may have been alerted to the break-in via her doorcam app, prompting her to rush home.

Upon Scott’s arrival in her Jeep, one of the intruders brandished a firearm and discharged several rounds. The vehicle was left peppered with bullet holes as the perpetrators fled the scene. The incident was captured on video and shared by local media, though the footage does not directly identify the assailants.

Additional footage from a neighboring doorbell camera revealed a bystander rushing to Scott’s aid as she lay in the street following the shooting. Upon arrival, police discovered Scott suffering from a gunshot wound.

Despite being quickly transported to a local hospital, Scott’s injuries proved fatal. Her Jeep was discovered near her front porch, riddled with bullet holes, as detailed in a statement from the DeKalb County Police Department.

Local residents expressed shock and grief over the incident. One neighbor described hearing “rapid gunshots,” while another, Jerome Willis, who was acquainted with Scott, expressed his disbelief, stating, “this is a quiet neighborhood.” Willis expressed his condolences and urged for swift justice, stating, “They should find [the killer] as quick as possible … for somebody to just kill an innocent person.”

As of now, police have not identified any suspects in the case, and no arrests have been made. The investigation into Scott’s tragic death continues.
