LANDOVER, Md. — Tragedy struck a residential complex in Landover on Wednesday night, as a young child and a man lost their lives in a triple shooting, according to local authorities. The Prince George’s County police were called to the scene around 9:30 p.m., where they discovered two adults, a man and a woman, along with a child, all suffering from gunshot wounds inside a residence.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers pronounced the man and the child deceased at the scene, while the woman was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The family member of the victims, Alvin Green, spoke with 7News and expressed his disbelief about the tragic event, revealing that the child was just 11 years old.
While the exact circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, Green believes that the child’s stepfather shot both victims before turning the gun on himself. The Prince George’s County police are conducting a preliminary investigation and have stated that they do not consider this to be a random crime. They have reassured the community that there is no ongoing threat.
