LODI, Calif. — The family of a 15-year-old boy who was fatally shot while visiting family in Lodi for the Thanksgiving holiday is appealing for information to identify the suspect. The victim, identified as Alan Ruiz, was shot at an apartment complex on Saturday night. Despite video footage of the attack, the police have yet to name a suspect.
The Lodi Police Department has described the shooting as a targeted incident and is actively investigating the case. Officers responded to reports of a shooting on Hale Road and found Ruiz suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Police spokespersons have urged community members with any relevant information to come forward and assist the investigation.
According to his family, Ruiz was a sensitive and caring young man who enjoyed spending time at home playing games and listening to music. They are baffled as to why he would have been targeted while visiting Lodi for the holiday week.
