Early Wednesday morning in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Police responded to a tragic call – a man and woman dead in a driveway.
The caller was the couple’s 15-year-old son, who found the horrific scene of the deceased couple. The teen lived in the home along with his two sisters, one elementary school-aged and one middle school-aged. The sisters were found inside, unharmed.
Police are now investigating the incident as a domestic dispute, with the weapon used in the shooting, was recovered at the scene. Sgt. Michele Pihera of the Gwinnet County Police Department stated that the case could be a murder-suicide.
The shock of the incident has impacted the local community, with neighbor Colin Barnes describing how his heart fell after learning of the two deaths. Barnes shared that he was close to the couple and had even babysat the children in the past.
At the time of the article, it’s too soon to know the identities of the deceased as police are awaiting to notify the next of kin and a ruling from a medical examiner.
Domestic violence and abuse is a serious and heartbreaking issue with far-reaching effects. It’s important to remember that help is available for those in need through resources and support so that they are not alone.
