4 Dead, 5 Injured After Man Goes on Stabbing Spree

Rockford, Illinois – A stabbing spree in a residential area has left four people dead and five others injured. According to authorities, the incident occurred in Rockford on Wednesday afternoon, when an adult male attacked multiple individuals near Cleveland Avenue, Holmes Street, and Eggleston Road. The suspect, a 22-year-old man, is currently in police custody.

Law enforcement officials are still in the process of informing the families of the deceased victims. The attack is being treated as a “multi-jurisdictional” event, with county law enforcement agencies assisting in the response.

Of the five individuals injured, four are in stable condition, while one remains in critical condition. The victims who lost their lives include a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and another 22-year-old man. Three of them were pronounced dead at the scene, while the fourth died at a local hospital.

The motive and circumstances behind the attack are unclear at this time, and there is no evidence to suggest the involvement of additional suspects, according to the police. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker expressed his condolences in the wake of the tragic incident.
