6 People Shot at Waffle House, 1 Dead

Indianapolis, Indiana – A shooting at a Waffle House in Indianapolis early Monday morning has resulted in the death of one person and injuries to five others, authorities report. The incident occurred a little after midnight, prompting a response from officers of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department following a report of a person shot.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered five individuals with gunshot wounds who were subsequently transported to local hospitals. Unfortunately, one of the victims succumbed to their injuries. A sixth victim was also treated at Methodist Hospital, although it remains unclear whether they were self-transported or aided by a citizen.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting was a result of a “disturbance between two groups,” as revealed by authorities after speaking with victims and witnesses at the scene. The statement, however, does not specify if any of the shooters were among those injured.

During the course of the investigation, police recovered a firearm from a car at Methodist Hospital and found another gun at the Waffle House location. While three men and one woman are reported to be in a stable condition, one man remains in critical condition at Methodist Hospital.

Waffle House has issued a statement expressing their cooperation with law enforcement agencies throughout the ongoing investigation.

Detective Douglas Morning from the IMPD Homicide Office is urging anyone with information related to the incident to contact the office directly or utilize the Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana hotline to provide anonymous tips. Contact details are available at the end of this article.

The Indianapolis community is left shocked and grieving over this tragic incident, as authorities continue their efforts to identify the perpetrators responsible. Updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
