2 Dead and Multiple Injured During Children’s Birthday Party

Berlin Township, Michigan – A children’s birthday party turned into a horrific scene of tragedy when a suspected drunk driver crashed through the Swan Creek Boat Club on Saturday. The accident claimed the lives of two young siblings and left 13 others injured, some with life-threatening injuries. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred around 3 p.m., causing chaos and a high level of emotions among those directly involved and witnesses.

Disturbing video footage captured the moment the 66-year-old woman’s blue SUV sped through the boat club’s parking lot, narrowly missing a lamp post before crashing into the back wall of the building. The impact caused a plume of debris, concealing the catastrophic damage caused by the allegedly drunken driver.

Tragically, an 8-year-old girl and her 5-year-old brother lost their lives at the scene. Three children and six adults were rushed to nearby hospitals via helicopters and ambulances, while other injured individuals received first aid at the scene and were taken to hospitals by private vehicles.

The driver, whose identity remains undisclosed, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and causing death. Authorities confirmed that she is cooperating with the investigation. While charges have not been specified, additional charges are likely to be filed as the investigation continues.
