Two Texas residents were arrested and charged with kidnapping after an 18-year-old woman was held against her will in Harris County for a month. On July 16, the victim freed herself from restraints and sought help from neighbors when Jose Reyes and Jacueline Macias left the house.
Harris County Constable Mark Herman of Precinct 4 reported the 18-year-old victim had marks on her hands and legs, demonstrating she had been restrained.
Herman reported to Fox News that upon initial investigation, it was discovered that the eighteen-year-old victim had been enticed to a man’s residence. Once they arrived, Herman stated there was an additional Hispanic woman. He mentioned that the scenario suddenly changed, with the young woman being tied up and confined in a room. The young lady described to deputies how she had been captive in the nearby home for an entire month, possibly longer. She explained that Reyes and Macias had started to sexually assault her after she was firmly in their grasp.
Reyes has a $100,000 bond, while Macias has a $50,000 bond. They will both appear in court on Tuesday at 9 a.m. While it remains to be seen what the outcome of this case will be, it is a sad remembrance of the dangers of human trafficking. The 18-year-old’s bravery and resilience should be commended, as she summoned the courage and strength to escape and seek assistance.
