Family Awakens to Naked Intruder; Man Held at Gunpoint Until Police Arrival

In Bismarck, North Dakota, a family was startled awake by an unexpected and unusual intruder early Friday morning. A naked and intoxicated man had entered their home, causing havoc and damage, particularly in their daughter’s bedroom.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. when the homeowners were roused from sleep by loud noises emanating from the lower level of their house. The male homeowner, armed with a gun, went to investigate the source of the disturbance. He discovered the intruder in the entryway of their home and held him at gunpoint while his wife dialed 911.

Upon arrival, the police found the homeowner still holding the intruder, identified as Alvin Ducheneaux, at gunpoint in their entryway closet. The couple informed the officers that they had left their back door unlocked before retiring for the night. Ducheneaux had reportedly entered through this door and caused significant damage, including destroying a shoe rack and scattering clothes and toys in their daughter’s room, amounting to approximately $200 in damages.

The couple also noted an increase in foot traffic to a nearby house and speculated that Ducheneaux may have mistakenly entered their home instead. Ducheneaux was subsequently arrested and charged with Burglary, Night (Class B Felony), Criminal Mischief, Willful Damage (Class B Misdemeanor), and Disorderly Conduct, Offensive Condition (Class B Misdemeanor). He is currently being held at the Burleigh Morton Detention Center.

Ducheneaux’s next court appearance is scheduled for November. If convicted of the felony charge, he could face up to 10 years in prison. The incident serves as a stark reminder for homeowners to ensure their homes are secure before retiring for the night.
