A deadly incident unfolded at a United States Postal Service (USPS) processing facility in Missouri City, Texas, on Monday evening. Local law enforcement reported that one worker lost his life in the incident, while another was apprehended and is currently in custody.
The tragic event took place around 10 p.m. at the USPS processing facility located at 611 Highway 90 Alt. Police were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered one worker had succumbed to gunshot wounds. Another worker was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident. The large facility was quickly evacuated, with video footage capturing numerous employees gathered outside as a significant police presence secured the area.
The deceased worker was identified as Kevin Hines, a contractor for USPS. The individual arrested in connection with the shooting was named as Derrick Lott, a USPS employee. Lott has since been charged with murder and remains in custody. No other injuries were reported during the incident.

In the aftermath of the incident, mail processing at the facility has been temporarily halted pending an investigation. The facility, situated approximately 14 miles southwest of Houston, was the site of a press briefing held by Dana Carter, an inspector with the Houston Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Carter confirmed the shooting and reassured the public that the situation was under control and posed no threat to the community.
