Man Charged with Murder of Friend Following Alcohol-Fueled Altercation in Home

A man from Long Island is facing murder charges after allegedly killing his friend during a night of heavy drinking in a Hamptons home. Jeremy Allen, 43, was arrested after police discovered the battered and stabbed body of his friend, Christopher Hahn, also 43, concealed under a tarp on Allen’s back patio following the alcohol-fueled altercation on Saturday morning.

According to authorities, the two men were discussing their next 12-step program when a heated argument ensued. The dispute escalated, resulting in Allen allegedly assaulting and then stabbing Hahn in the head, leading to his death. This information was revealed during Allen’s arraignment on Sunday.

Suffolk County prosecutor Elena Tomaro informed Southampton Town Justice Adam Grossman that there is video evidence of the gruesome attack, describing it as “brutal and heinous to watch.” Allen, who has a history of drunk driving charges dating back to 2007, and Hahn were reportedly consuming large amounts of alcohol when the violent altercation broke out, according to Allen’s defense attorney.

The prosecution alleges that Allen assaulted Hahn for up to six hours before he produced a large knife and stabbed his friend in the head and neck. Following the incident, Allen reportedly texted a local handyman, requesting assistance in cleaning up the crime scene.

Upon discovering the blood-soaked body, the handyman told Allen he needed to purchase bleach for the cleanup, but instead contacted the Southampton Town Police. Officers arrived at the scene shortly before 10 a.m., where Hahn was pronounced dead. Allen was taken into custody approximately an hour after the body was discovered.

Allen was arraigned on Sunday and is being held without bail. He also has a pending rape case in Southampton and is currently on probation for a 2022 conviction for drunk driving in Ulster County.
