Man Faces Multiple Charges in Triple Homicide, Injures Infant

A man in Oklahoma is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into an apartment and fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and two other women. The man’s infant child, who the mother was holding at the time of the shooting, was also injured but is expected to recover.

The suspect, identified as Caleb Venson, is currently being held at the Tulsa County Jail without bond on three counts of first-degree murder. In addition to these charges, Venson is also being held on a $95,000 bond for one count each of first-degree burglary and shooting with intent to kill.

The victims of the tragic incident have been named as Ashley Atwell, 38, Annaway Mackey, 20, and Sarah Gonzales, 19. Atwell, who had ended her relationship with Venson over a year ago, reportedly feared him. According to her sister, Jennifer Atwell, Ashley had even resorted to placing a butter knife in her door at night for protection.

The incident occurred early Monday morning at the Wood Creek Apartments near Garnett Road and I-244. Police reports indicate that Venson arrived at the apartment and shot out a sliding glass door to gain entry. Once inside, he allegedly shot and killed his ex-girlfriend while she was holding their child and then proceeded to shoot and kill the two other women present.

Upon arrival, police discovered the three women deceased and the injured baby on the floor next to one of the victims. The infant was quickly taken to a nearby firefighter for immediate medical attention and is expected to survive.

According to police, Venson also confronted a 13-year-old boy living in the apartment but did not harm him. The boy managed to escape through a window and call for help. Venson reportedly left the scene but turned himself into authorities before 8 a.m. the same day. He is set to appear in court on Wednesday.
