Man ‘Hunted’ Down Children After Murdering Wife in Horrific Shooting

Oklahoma City, OK – The Oklahoma City Police Department has provided additional information about the tragic shooting incident that took place on Monday morning, resulting in the deaths of five individuals. According to authorities, at approximately 9:35 a.m., a 911 call was received from a 10-year-old boy who reported that five people had been found dead inside a residence near Southwest 29th Street and South Czech Hall Road.

Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered the bodies of four victims and the suspected shooter, all of whom had been fatally shot.

During a press conference held on Tuesday morning, the Oklahoma City Police revealed that the incident was a result of an altercation between 42-year-old Jonathon Candy and his 39-year-old wife, Lindsay Candy, the previous Sunday night. Investigations indicate that Jonathon, armed with a gun, shot Lindsay multiple times, leading to her death.

Authorities state that Jonathon then systematically proceeded to shoot and kill their three children: 18-year-old Dylan Candy, 14-year-old Ethan Candy, and 12-year-old Lucas Candy. Astonishingly, the couple’s fourth child was left unharmed. It was later discovered that the 10-year-old woke up to the unimaginable tragedy and immediately alerted the police.

Describing the incident as a “massacre,” MSgt. Gary Knight, Public Information Officer with the Oklahoma City Police Department, expressed that the children were hunted down and murdered after their mother’s death. The details of where each victim was located within the residence were also shared, with Lindsay and one of the children found shot downstairs, and the other two children killed upstairs. Disturbingly, one of the kids was shot while in bed.

Although authorities are currently unsure of the father’s motive to kill the three children, they have stated that “there is every indication that as soon as he found them, they were killed.” Notably, there is no known history of domestic abuse in the family, and it remains unclear whether the incident was planned.

Investigations are ongoing, with police in the process of speaking to friends and family to gather more information about what may have led to this tragic event. Meanwhile, authorities urge anyone with information to contact the homicide tip line at (405)-297-1200.

As the community grieves, the 10-year-old survivor is being cared for by relatives.
