Man Kills Wife in Front of 4-Year-Old Daughter

An Illinois man, Steven Kramer, 39, has been taken into custody and charged with the murder of his wife, Jaime Neumann, 47, in the aftermath of a deadly shooting at their residence. The Warrenville Police Department responded to a distress call from Kramer’s home on September 5, around 11 a.m., initially reported as a cardiac arrest and death incident.

Upon reaching the scene, Kramer guided the first responding officer to a second-floor bedroom where Neumann was found. The officer discovered Neumann lying at the foot of the bed, her body and face covered in blood, with clear signs of facial trauma. Neumann was pronounced dead at the scene.

The post-mortem examination revealed that Neumann had sustained six gunshot wounds, with injuries located between her left eye and nose, three times in the chest, once in the upper left thigh, and once in her right forearm. The police investigation uncovered that a verbal disagreement between the couple had spiraled into a physical confrontation, resulting in Kramer shooting Neumann.

The couple’s 4-year-old daughter was reportedly present at home during the incident, as reported by the Chicago Daily Herald. Kramer later surrendered himself at the Warrenville Police Department and was promptly taken into custody.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin extended his sympathies to Neumann’s family and friends, especially her children, who now must navigate life without their mother’s love and support. He commended the Warrenville Police Department’s efforts and pledged a robust prosecution against Kramer.

Kramer has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and will remain in custody until his trial, as ordered by a DuPage County judge. Warrenville Chief of Police Sam Bonilla characterized Kramer’s alleged actions as “unthinkable,” leaving his family permanently damaged and his children without a mother.

A group of “dedicated mothers” established a fundraising page for Neumann’s daughters, portraying her as a great mother, a wonderful friend, and a genuinely good person who impacted many lives. They mourned the tragic loss due to domestic violence, leaving her daughters orphaned.
